Subordinate to China Central Television (CCTV), the CCTV animation group aims to bring more uplifting, entertaining and educational content to children all over China. China Central Television is part of China Media Group.

The group was established on the basis of the former CCTV animation company and it collected animation resources from the station. The establishment marks a comprehensive and in-depth industrial upgrading of the station in the field of animation.

At the launch ceremony on morning of Dec 5, Shen Haixiong, president of China Media Group, said that the establishment of the CCTV animation group will encourage original animation in China and also help to develop quality intellectual animation property in China.

"More quality animation works will be produced by the group, and that will help to deliver proper values to children, carrying forward fine traditional Chinese culture, and enhancing cultural confidence," said Wu Haiying, vice-president of the All-China Women's Federation.

At the ceremony, the group introduced plans for producing over 20 children's film and cartoon series. More than 300 guests from China and abroad attended the ceremony, including directors of main online streaming media platforms in China and representatives of animation companies abroad.
