Although the pandemic has stopped us from meeting our clients, customer-tailored live webinars cannot be stopped. Recently, Lung Tin conducted two live webinars, which attracted the in-house audience and the public with a number of positive feedback.
On August 11th, Ms. Huiquan Nie, a partner and assistant general manager at Lung Tin, hosted a live webinar on “How to create high-quality patents and avoid common misunderstandings by recent high-cost litigation cases’ analysis”. Under the background of the recent booming patent application in China due to a variety of local incentive policies, the quality of patents has to be worrying. As the policies are changing, the quality of the patents, rather than the numbers, has gradually been placed at the top of the priority list from the enterprise’s perspective. Therefore, it’s time to say goodbye to the junk patents and usher to the high-quality ones.
Ms. Nie’s webinar focused on the patents involved in the current high-cost patent litigation, and analyzed how to define high-quality patents from the three dimensions of technology, law and market through real cases. In addition, Ms. Nie explained how to draft highly competitive patent applications with high quality in accordance with their overall patent portfolio. Finally, Ms. Nie pointed out common misunderstandings greatly affecting patent quality in practice by analyzing typical cases, including misunderstanding of technical solutions, and key features/effects that cannot be reflected or further explored at the technical level.
On August 20th, Mr. Xiaobing Wang, a partner and executive director at Lung Tin Law Firm (Shanghai), hosted an online salon on “The issue of compliance management and dispute resolution of trade secrets”. This online salon was given under the background of today’s increasing trade secret disputes. Therefore, the issue of compliance management and dispute resolution of trade secrets has never been more important in today's society.
In the salon, Mr. Wang mainly talked about: 1) the amendment and impact of trade secret clauses in the Anti-Unfair Competition Law; 2) the guiding ideology and work focus of corporate trade secret compliance management; 3) discussing the resolution of trade secret infringement disputes from the perspective of both the plaintiff and the defendant.
