The "Third Tsinghua-Berkeley Annual Forum" was jointly held by the Tsinghua University Law School and the UC Berkeley School of Law on January 22 to 23 and January 29 to 30. This annual forum, focused on "transnational IP litigation under trade tensions", was warmly launched online. Dr. Yan Hong, the director and attorney at law of Lung Tin Law Firm, was again invited to attend the two schools' annual forum, giving a speech on the topic of "Criminal and Civil Intersection Issue in Trade Secret Cases" and participating in the discussion.

This forum was divided into four themes, covering the IP legislation progress and IP litigation under trade tensions, transnational litigation and licensing of standard-essential patents, the development of trade secret law and litigation, and transnational intellectual property litigation under the context of international trade change, etc.
Dr. Yan Hong was invited to participate in the forum on the third theme of "the development of trade secret law and litigation", chaired by Professor James Pooley of UC Berkeley School of Law and Associate Professor Ge Jiang of Tsinghua University Law School, mainly discussing the Sino-US trade secret protection system. Among them, Dr. Yan Hong combined her own experience in handling cases and responded to the practical issues raised by Judge Jian Song of the Jiangsu High People's Court and other Chinese and foreign experts, and put forward the "Criminal and Civil Intersection Issue in Trade Secret Cases", compared the similarities and differences of criminal and civil legal standards and litigation procedures in trade secret cases. Dr. Hong analyzed the current practical cases in the involvement of both criminal and civil cases of the trade secret in China's judicial trials, put forward the difficulties and pain points for the involvement of both criminal and civil cases in China's trade secret cases. Dr. Hong expressed her views on the future litigation trends and trial trends of China's trade secret cases.

Through extensive discussions on topics such as "litigation strategies", "relief mechanisms", "trade secrets", and "cooperative strategies", this forum deepened the understanding of the professionals in China and the U.S. on the practice of intellectual property protection. This forum was of great significance for strengthening the international academic exchanges and cooperation between China and the U.S. in the field of intellectual property rights.
