On September 11th, police of Jiangnan District, Jinhua City of Zhejiang Province took netting actions in Guangxi, with 6 suspects, including Lu, seized. In addition, on April, 11th, another 7 suspects, including Fang, were seized by the police. After 6 months’ investigation by the police of Jiangnan, a total of 13 suspects were detained, over 12,000 bars of counterfeit cigarettes, 4 vehicles for transporting fake cigarettes and one cigarette coding machine were seized, and over 2 million yuan were involved, which systematically and specifically cracked down on the cross-border and cross-province channel of “Vietnam-Guangxi-Jinhua” for transporting counterfeit cigarettes and effectively rectified the illegal acts of selling counterfeit cigarettes in the jurisdiction.
In March this year, police of Jiangnan found a car on suspicion of transporting counterfeit cigarettes.
According to the clues initially found, the police analyzed the suspicious vehicle and found the warehouse used by the suspects. After monitoring the warehouse, other suspicious vehicles that had entered and exited from the warehouse regularly were found. A gang for transporting and selling counterfeit cigarettes in Guangxi and Zhejiang was finally identified.
After investigation, it was found that the criminal suspect surnamed Fang and suspects surnamed Huang and Li partnered to raise funds for selling counterfeit cigarettes. Fang purchased counterfeit cigarettes from Li, who was in Guangxi. Suspects Luo and Lu, as drivers, transported the counterfeit cigarettes to Jinhua, knowing that Fang and others engaged in counterfeit cigarettes sales and didn’t have a tobacco monopoly license.
It was learned that this batch of counterfeit cigarettes was imported from Vietnam. Professional machinery and equipment for production were used, and a special coding machine was equipped. It was impossible to tell apart counterfeit cigarettes from the genuine ones just from the appearance.
At present, the 13 suspects have been taken by criminal compulsory measures. The police is still investigating the manufacturers of counterfeit cigarettes and the whole chain for selling them. The case is under further investigation.
